How does an infrared work?

When gases, metals and pollutants, such as dioxins, lead, mercury or chlorine get into the water molecules of cells, they tend to "capture" large molecules of water. The accumulation of toxins in the body blocks cell energy and reduces blood flow. In the heat of a sauna, the core body temperature begins to rise, the blood vessels dilate and cause the cells to release the toxins from the captivity of the water molecules for excretion via perspiration and urine. As the heat from the blood moves toward the skin surfaces and the core body temperature rises, the body's nervous system sends signals to the millions of sweat glands covering the body. As the sweat glands are stimulated they produce sweat. Sweat production is primarily for cooling of the body, and is composed mostly of water but deep sweating in a sauna can help reduce levels of lead, copper, sodium, zinc, nickel and mercury- all toxins commonly picked up from our environment.

How long is a typical session? And how often can I take a session?
Most people partake in a 30-40 minute session, 3 -4 times a week, but it is safe to use every day and at whatever heat suits you best. Though you should not over use it!

Is far infrared heat safe?
Far infrared rays, which are completely invisible to the naked eye, are capable of penetrating deep into the human body (literally right down to your bones) where they gently elevate the body's surface temperature and activate major bodily functions. Far infrared rays are 100% safe. They're NOT the ultraviolet rays which cause sunburn and skin cancer.

What if the cabin gets over heated?
Just sit back and relax because Detox Care cabins are the only infrared cabins equipped with "heat sensors" which automatically cut the heating if it goes beyond the prescribed temperature. Even in this condition you fell its overheating simply put the power switch off and open the door, within seconds it will cool down.

Will I need to hire an electrician?
No, Detox Care comes with one year warranty which is extendable for one more year, after that you can just opt for our AMC i.e., (Annual Maintenance Contract) which includes regular service. We highly recommend that you should never try to get it fixed from any local electrician it can damage the sensitive parts of the machine.

Does infrared technology interfere with implants (metal, silicone, etc.)?
Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna. More on Health & Safety.

What is EMF? Is it harmful to the body?
EMF (electric and magnetic fields) are waves of electric and magnetic energy radiating through space. High EMF levels are often associated with power lines.

EMF is everywhere in our homes and offices. The electrical appliances we use (an electric can opener at close range emits substantial EMFs), computers, monitors, keyboards and mice, wireless modems, cordless phones, clock radios, hair dryers, mobile phones, microwave ovens and more - all produce EMFs.

Despite the extensive research over the last 20 years, the general scientific consensus is that there is not sufficient evidence to show a definitive cause and effect relationship in regards to EMF exposure. Two national research organizations (the National Research Council and the National Institute of Health) have looked at the studies and have concluded that there is not strong evidence that EMF exposures pose a health risk. Currently in the U.S., there are no standards limiting exposure to EMF.

Although the current scientific evidence provides no definitive answers regarding EMF, there is enough uncertainty that some people want to reduce their exposure to EMF. For that reason, we have limited the levels of EMF from our heaters as much as possible. The EMF levels of Detox Care are well below the threshold of what is generally considered safe, and in fact, produce less EMF than a standard hair dryer.

How do I keep my Detox Care Cabins?
Infrared Detox care is generally maintenance-free. What we advise it maintain it like wood furniture, a frequent dusting and wipe with wet cotton cloth. We don"t recommend any chemical cleaning.

Can my sauna be placed on any floor surface?
Yes, this is a completely self-contained unit and absolutely no water is used so it can go on concrete, wood, laminate, vinyl, carpet, stone, etc.

What time of day should I use the sauna (am or pm)?
It is completely up to you and your lifestyle. There is no data showing more of a benefit in the morning or evening.

What should I wear in the sauna? Can I go nude?
You can go nude if you would like, but be sure to put down cotton towels to absorb your sweat. Men typically wear workout or swim trunks; women typically wear workout shorts and a tank top or sports bra. Going nude vs. wearing this body wrap will not alter the effectiveness of your Detox Care session.

How much electricity does a Sunlighten sauna typically use?
hour long session. Of course, energy rates vary from state to state, but this should give you a good sense for just how cost effective our dry infrared saunas are.

Is it ok to use the sauna while breastfeeding?
Please consult with your physician, as this answer is usually yes, but may be no depending upon you specific circumstances.

Are children allowed to use the sauna? What should I consider with this?
The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adults. This occurs due to a higher metabolic rate per body mass, limited circulatory adaptation to increased cardiac demands and the inability to regulate body temperature by sweating. When using your sauna with a child, operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time. A general rule of thumb is 1 minute inside your sauna per year of age for the child, but always accompanied by an adult. And remember to keep you and your children hydrated, even if you don't see them sweating. We recommend a age limit of 12 year and above.

How long will it take to receive my sauna?
After initial processing and once shipped, times vary depending on your location and Detox Care model. The typical range is anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks.

How many days do I have to report shipping / sauna damage?
You have 2 days after delivery to contact us to report any damage you find.
